BANGLADESH

Bangladesh is a country racked with extreme poverty and severe overpopulation. An overwhelming percentage of Bangladeshi’s 150 million people have little access to the most basic necessities such as adequate nutrition, education and healthcare. In addition, the coastal country frequently experiences natural disasters including wide-spread floods, cyclones, tornadoes and drought. The combination of pre-existing poverty with the frequent threat of natural disasters makes the betterment of one’s life very challenging for many Bangladeshi citizens.

To help address some of these problems, the A. Scott Foundation’s work in Bangladesh currently centers on providing disaster relief and implementing pilot projects that promote economic independence amongst the rural poor.

Working alongside volunteers and local community members to help those in severe poverty or distress, the A. Scott Foundation always aims to develop solutions that both address the needs of the immediate present and are also self-sustainable in the long-term period.
