China has experienced tremendous economic growth in the last two decades. While most of this growth occurred in the coastal cities, hundreds of millions of people live in poverty in the rest of the country. The A. Scott Foundation implements focused pilot projects that improve the living conditions through the cooperation and teamwork with the local community. Since there are far more people in need of help than our resources can address, our activities and geographic areas are selected on a project-by-project basis.

The A. Scott Foundation has pursued development aid in cases where our work has the potential to create a significant impact, and where we have found local implementation partners who are able to meet our operational standards of transparency and efficiency. By working directly with the community to tackle very specific issues, The A. Scott Foundation is able to bring a greater level of independence to those in need and can vastly increase their quality of life.
