The A. Scott Foundation has its roots in two other nonprofit organizations.

Previously, the A. Scott Foundation operated under the name of Consortium X. Before The A. Scott Foundation/Consortium X's inception in 2006, many of the same staff and volunteers were active members and founders of the Michigan International Development.
